Yes, my wedding ring. (have you seen it?)
Dec. 28, 2010: Left home to go to the cabin for a week. Mom picked me up. Also the last time I remembered having my ring.
Jan. 4, 2011: Leave cabin to come home. Can't find ring. Search cabin. Tell myself maybe I didn't bring ring with me to cabin, and I'll see it when we get home.
Later that day....get home and no ring anywhere. (Internal conflicts start and continue minute by minute) Tell myself its probably at the cabin somewhere, even though hours before I told myself it was probably at home and not at the cabin. Start to pack our house to move to Boise.
For sure it's at the cabin....it's gotta be. (I said this to myself 10 times an hour I bet.)
Jan. 5th: Continue to pack house for Boise. Also continue to argue with myself about where it could be and start promising Heavenly Father I'll cut back on the Dr. Pepper if he could just make my ring reappear. (not out loud of course) Leave for Boise that evening.
Next few days went as follows: Bentley sleeps entire way to Boise. Apartment search: somewhat stressful, but in the end we were very blessed with exactly what we needed. Bentley got really sick. (Sad and I hated it) Moved our stuff into the perfectly priced, clean, awesome amenities, no contract only gonna be here until April apartment. Looked again for ring amongst all the boxes, etc. No ring.
Tears threaten to appear.
Oh, and Bentley sleeps entire way again back to Rigby. not even a peep.
Jan. 11: Kade's wedding. (NOTE: going to a wedding while missing your own wedding ring only adds to the longing for your own evidence of your special day)
Drive back to Boise that night in separate cars. I search mine as I'm driving (don't do that) for the hundredth time for above mentioned ring. Get the chance to ponder it over the next 4 hours of drive time. Alone. No ring.
The rest is a blur of asking people to check their cars, check the cabin again when you go please, is it at your house? Have you seen my ring anywhere? Calling some lady that found a wedding ring at walmart. Checking every pair of jeans I own numerous times. The washer. The dryer. My car, again. The diaper bag, again. The drawers, again.
Meanwhile...Travis said we needed to get a fake one in the meantime. (I think he felt bad seeing me play with my hands all the time) So we did. Dillard's. $14. Lost that one too. just kidding.
Just when I thought I'd be wearing the replacement that turns my finger green for the rest of my life, today I got a phone call.
Mom: "Hi! How are you? I'm at the cabin, and I was moving this little basket because it wasn't in the spot that I normally put it, (my mom is very organized and particular about everything in her house and cabin:-) I bet she had to move it 3 inches to the left.) and guess what I found?"
Me: "My ring?!" (holding my breath now)
Mom: "Yes! Wait...I think?"
Me: "WHAT? you THINK?" (Band, no band, different ring?)
Mom: "Yeah, this is it!"
Holy crap. I have never felt so relieved since....since I found out there was a Cafe Rio in Boise.
Dear ring: I get it. I had exactly 10 depressing weeks to taste what life is like without you. I will never misplace you again and I will take you to get cleaned more often. I promise.
Mom, YOU MADE MY DAY!
Oh my gosh! I got stressed out just by reading this! You didn't tell me this! I'm so glad it is not lost anymore. I bet your Dillard's bling is pretty sweet though! xoxo

ReplyDeleteI seriously can NOT imagine that... I'm so happy it turned up, Thomas is always scared I'm going to loose mine, he thinks I kind of space off sometimes... Me? NEVER! ha ha I'm seriously so glad it turned up!
